Hedge my positions

Been thinking a little about when should I hedge my positios and created a few new rules.

  • Always hedge my position after been caught in a break of serve,wether its against me or in my favour;
  • Always hedge at the end of each set;
Will try this out for the next week or so an then leave my insight about if its working or not.

Still in the red

Just finished the Miami Open final between Djoker and Nadal.Ended up down 40% of my stake.A few things I've noticed:

  • Although I thought I had a well defined strategy,I've now realized that I dont and I have to tweak it a little bit.Its profitable as it is but with some minor adjustments it can take my ROI to new hights;
  • From the mental point of view I think it was very good.Spent most of the game calm,focused and emotionless,apart from a few moments when I felt a tad bit nervous;
  • Pretty happy with my risk control and bank protection actions during the second set.At a point I had 2 choices to open a position,one with higher risk/ higher reward and a safer less profitable approach,both depending in the same match outcome.As I was in the red already,I took the less risky approach.And Im glad I did it as it turned out to be a looser.Had it went my way and I woul have been in the green at the end of the second set.A week or so ago I would have been in the 100% plus red zone.So its a win for me here;
  • Im happy with the way I handed the close points to my trades.Some "let it run" thoughts crossed my mind at some point,but I was able to supress them;
  • Still have to put some thought into the "when to green up" dilemma;
Will work on these points tomorrow.Im not going to be able to trade tomorrow and I want to be cautious cos WTA is a new challenge for me.

Not the greatest start of all time to a blog about winning money but it will have to do :)

First things first

As many of you might already have noticed,this is going to be yet another blog about trading the sports markets on Betfair,more precisely,tennis trading.

I started trading a year and a half ago,having started with soccer trading,eventually moving to tennis trading,where I hope I will finally become profitable.I aim to achieve the holy grail of trading,consistency.To do that,I have to work on my mental skills,as I know I have a profitable system/strategy.I just need to start to apply my strategy following my rules ALL the time.No excuses.No more "just one more point wont make a difference,Im going to let this one run just this one time".No more "I am ABSOLUTELY SURE he is going to win,so im not going to red up".

This is going to be a space where I can literally put my heart out.Its a blog primarily made for me,to help my evolution and to have written records of my trading.There will probably be lots of posts cos I always have stuff on my mind.As far as I can tell you,it wont be strange to have more than one post a day,with updates coming almost daily.

I need to start approaching my trading from an almost mechanic way.No more emotions when Im trading.No more joy,no more sadness,no more frustration,no more over confidence.Just follow the strategy like a machine.In,out green/red up.Simple as that.

Dont wish me luck,cos if I reach the point where I need luck in my trading again,I'll probably quit.
